Shannah Hayley

About Shannah

Shannah’s pursuit of living life to the fullest has taken her worldwide with various communications-focused jobs, from teaching in Kenya to consulting in the United Kingdom. After moving to North Texas, Shannah now serves as the Director of Communications and Community Outreach for the City of Plano, Texas. Her responsibilities include public information, communications strategy and community outreach. She currently serves as President-Elect for the Texas Association of Municipal Communications Officers.
 
Outside work she and her husband lead a running training program for those aspiring to complete 5ks, 10ks, half and full marathons. In addition to training others, they are the proud finishers of Run50, having completed a half (Shannah) and full (her husband) marathon in each of the 50 states.

About Renae

Renae Jackson is a local government professional passionate about building community and strengthening culture through meaningful connections, co-creation, and innovation.  As Equity and Engagement Director for the City of Decatur, she is responsible for reviewing current policy and procedures; serving as staff liaison to the Better Together Advisory Board; developing and implementing equitable and inclusive programs and practices; leading Decatur’s communications and community engagement efforts; and facilitating positive, transformative change throughout the city.

Renae also plays an active role in advising on the incorporation of proactive community engagement strategies into all city plans, policies, programs, and procedures. Renae holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and psychology from Xavier University in New Orleans, and a master’s degree in writing and digital communication from Agnes Scott College.
